I am a Cyber Security Specialist as well as the Spokesperson for ESET, Europe’s number one Internet Security and Antivirus company. I am also a well respected industry expert who regularly comments on a range of cyber security stories in publications such as The Independent, BBC, The Times and Forbes. I am frequently asked to give my opinion, advice and analysis on stories featuring a security or technology angle. Head over to my media page to view some of the articles I have contributed to.
I previously worked in the police force for 14 years investigating computer crime in the Digital Forensics Unit and Cyber Crime Team in Dorset. I investigated 100s of crimes and spent much of my time in Crown Court producing digital evidence for a abundance of different offences ranging from fraud to murder.
In 2016 I was asked by my police force to pilot a Home Office scheme whereby local forces were funded to implement cyber security advisors in order to make their local communities more resilient to ever increasing cyber threats. I was tasked with visiting companies across the county in order to help protect them and make them better protected to online threats.
Between my time in the police and at ESET, I have a catalogue of stories including murder investigations, breaking encryption, social engineering and even gaining entry to company networks ethically. Penetration testing with the police was a fantastic way of getting the message across to businesses who simply had their heads firmly in the sand.
I currently offer engaging and informative talks to business and conferences across the UK which include techniques to better protect your business in a highly entertaining way. I have given dozens of talks across the country including large organisations such as Vodafone, The Bank Of England and Facebook as well as conferences such as InfoSec and Digital Transformation (DX) Expo.
